We enjoyed breakfast overlooking Loch Ness, before leaving Fort Augustus and peddling uphill for a good few miles.
We were rewarded by the downhill afterwards, through woodland and quiet lanes, before stopping for a picnic lunch. We sheltered from the wind under a gazebo, whilst a persistent duck tried its best to eat the sandwiches.
Onward to Inverness, an attractive Highland city, although crossing the Kessock Bridge in high winds was somewhat hair-raising. A quick brew stop and brief delay to mend a puncture, before we reached our destination of Invergordon. We enjoyed a hearty pub supper, illuminated by the oil rigs and ships out at sea.
